Garden Goodness

Here's my garden. It's growing so well. The sweet peas are taller than Carissa, the tomatoes are really plentiful, the lettuce is yummy and still growing, the peppers are bountiful and the other veggies are coming along. Who knew such a small space could be so productive and who knew my thumb was kinda green!

All You mag-Good Deal

Have you checked out All You magazine-August 29, 2008 issue? The magazine is $1.77 at Walmart. There's at least $10 worth of coupons that I know I will use from it, especially all the free Kraft items listed on Page 159. Check it out if you can!

A Little Night Music

David & I went to Ravinia last night. Ravinia is a concert venue near Chicago, last night was the Chicago Symphony Orchestra. We had lawn seats and met some other couples there. Listened to some lovely Beethoven under the stars, sipped some mighty fine wine, and had no children with us! It was a very nice night and it looks like we might go back in August and listen to some UB40.

Lawn seats=free (because it was an Abbott night)
Wine=free (left over from David's work dinner the night before)
Date with my husband=priceless.

Babysitters

What is it about scheduling a sitter that ALWAYS falls to mom???! It's not difficult, but I am the one who always schedules a sitter for us. I guess it's not necessarily even about calling one, but rather the idea that he thought ahead and felt we were worth enough that he would do the planning. Is this the way it is everywhere or just at our house?

Tough Morning Shopping

This is what happens when you spend a tough morning garage sale-ing. Poor little thing was all tuckered out. Her dolly's dress was one of our finds from the morning, so Carissa was thrilled with that.

House of Brotherly Love

As many of you know, Carissa has always refused to write any letters for me. She wouldn't even try to make the letter I! It got so frustrating, I completely backed off and figured we'd tackle it again this Fall. Well, she asked the other day if I would help her write a note for Simon. She wrote every single letter by herself and drew him a picture of the sun and a flower! I was so proud of her. I figure I needed to capture this moment of love so I could remember it during the summer days of 's/he's bugging me! It's his/her fault! I didn't do it!'

Cherries, Cherries Everywhere

I made my first cherry pie all from scratch yesterday. It was okay, crust was really yummy, but pie needed a touch more sugar. I made it because my neighbor gave me cherries from her tree and David & Simon really like cherry pie. But, Carissa & I discovered that neither of us really like it! Oh well, I'm hoping to hit up the neighbor on the other side for more cherries so I can make jelly. Love when all the summer stuff gets ready to eat!
