Valentine Hair

"Mama, I want to have fancy hair tomorrow. For Valentine's Day.'
"Fancy hair? Do you mean your hair pulled up and styled?"
"No, FANCY hair. You know, Valentine's hair, with curls and stuff."
"Oh, curly hair! OK, Valentine's hair it is for you."
So off we went to put in the curlers.
Here she is, in all her Valentine hair glory:

And of course, her Valentine fashion accessories.

Hot Date with Bucky

It's Valentine's Day.
A time for hearts, romance, snuggles with my favorite people (Hubster & the kids, in case you were wondering).
And, maybe, at a special time, after the kiddos are asleep,  I'll , well, with the Hubster, ahem, you know............ (are you blushing, cause I am!)
Alas, not to be this year. Hubster is on a two week trip.
But, oh, I'll be seeing some action all right.
I have a hot date with my guy, Bucky.
What's that, you say?  A hot date? Who is NOT the Hubster?
Are you shocked, interested, disgusted?
Wanna see my hot Valentine's date?

Here he is, in all his glory.
Handsome looking dude, isn't he?
Meet Bucky the Mammogram, my hot Valentine date. (No, really, the lab tech had heated up the squishin' plates so they were nice and toasty. You can see the plaid heating pad on the machine. Thank you ma'am!)
His name was listed on the machine, Bucky. (Hmm, wonder if in MN they have ones named Gopher).
As a reality of the fab 40s, I must finally go in and get my baseline mammosquish done.
So, I'll go get the gals lifted, squashed and prodded, but I won't get any dinner out of it.
Or flowers.
Or romantic gestures.
Oh well. Happy Valentine's Day to me.
Hope yours is a little more fun!

Valentine's Day Revisited

Here is my favorite Valentine's activity that we did this year. In the beginning of Feb, I purchased 4 little mailboxes from the dollar spot in Target (oh, I really should have had that on my 10 things I love list!) and then put our intials on the front. So, we each ended up with our own mailbox. They sit on my kitchen counter and the idea was to put an encouraging note or a special little something for a family member in it as often you want. And, I mean little as the mailboxes are quite small.
The trick was to put the stuff in the mailbox without anyone else seeing you do it. Then, you put up the person's flag and wait for them to find your surprise. The kids LOVED this! They liked the notes as much as the little treats I put in. And, they got really creative with their own notes. (My favorite was from Wolfgang nand said "Mama, I like you and you are vera nice). Princess had trouble with the 'waiting until someone sees their flag is up' and would announce to everyone within hearing distance "YOUR FLAG IS UP!!!!" Ah, the impulsiveness of a 4 year old, gotta love it!
I was telling Princess that now that Valentine's Day is over, we would be putting the mailboxes away until next year. She promptly stomped her foot (a way too often occurrence in our house these days) and declared "Well, you can put yours away, but mine's staying up forever!"
I don't know about forever, Little One, but a few more days won't hurt. Gotta spread the love!
