Heaven & Creation

Our conversation this morning went like this:
Anne: Carissa, what do you think heaven looks like?
Carissa: It's blue, lots of dark blue, pretty sparkly stars, lots of them, the moon and God. There's lots of babies in a line up there waiting to get sent to their Mommy's & Daddy's. 'Cause that's where you are before you go to your Mama's tummy.
Simon: I think heaven is a whole bunch of clouds. You just move from cloud to cloud and don't fall through. And God has a magical touch.
Carissa: Nuh-uh, God's not magic.
Simon: Yes, He is. I know it 'cause he needs magic hands because he makes us. How could he make humans if he didn't have some magic?
Carissa: Nooooooo, he doesn't make us with magic.
Simon: Well, how does he make us then???
Carissa: With a spinning wheel!

So glad to know that all our teaching and church and sunday school has paid off so well! Ugggh!

Did you see the gas prices change?

You had to look quickly. First, they were $3.99, next thing, wham! They're $4.19. All in the matter of minutes. Man, gas is unbelievable! Wish pay raises worked that quickly.
Loving this cool non-rainy weather. We have been making our own bread lately, due to the large bread price increases. We are hooked on the honey wheat bread. The kids love it, the house smells good and I feel all domestic. Hmm, better watch out or pretty soon I'll be moving to the country (gotta eat a lot of peaches, ooops, ......quick song flashback!). Well, not really. I cheat by using the bread machine but it's still really tasty. MMMMMMM, warm bread!!!!

Salisbury Steak

I tried a new recipe last night and the kids LOVED it! Carissa asked for it for breakfast and Simon wanted to take it for lunch today. I found it here: http://tinamommyx3.blogspot.com/search/label/Ground%20Beef

Look after the Pizza Rolls recipe. Next time I make it, I'm hiding veggies in the beef patties though.

It was nice to have a meal that everyone liked. And the comment "Mama, you're the best cook EVER!"

You say calories, I say cavities

Carissa was brushing her teeth. She stopped, looked at me and said "I'm brushing really good so I don't have any calories in my mouth." "I think you mean cavities, Honey" I replied.
Then the next day, she was holding up a piece of candy and said "How many cavities in this?" I didn't have the heart to tell her that both calories & cavities would be correct!

Hello Brain, are you there? It's me, Anne Margaret.

I had a somewhat daunting to do list today. So, after I dropped the kids at school, I had a scheduled teeth cleaning. I got home after taking Carissa and started on my long list. At 9:15, the phone rang. "Hello, it's the dentisit office. Did you forget your appointment?" I'm thinking "Crap!" Totally forgot about it between Carissa's preschool and home, which is all of what 4 minutes away?!. I hurriedly went in and discovered that I have 2 fillings to be replaced. So, another to do to add to the list in a couple weeks.
What has happened to my brain? I used to be able to remember things, I prided myself on being able to keep on top of everything. I had a functional brain and liked to use it. It used to like me back by recalling information that I needed. What the heck happened to me????

So Quiet

It's so quiet here today. Carissa is at preschool and Simon at his school. I got a little lump in my throat when I hugged Simon goodbye today at school. He's just growing so fast. Carissa was thrilled to have her best friend from last year in her room. Makayla looked just as happy to see Carissa though. Watching Carissa skip over to her friend reminded me just how quickly she's changing too. My big kids, even though I was happy to have school start, I still miss them as well. Mothering is just so contradictory!!

School tomorrow!!!

Yeah! Tomorrow is the first day of school. Does it make me a bad mom to be so excited to get my house back for a few hours? I have so much planned for tomorrow that I don't think I'll be able to get it all done. But, some kind of treat will have to be part of it. And, I won't have to share it with anyone!!
